Brands

According to John Phillip, a brand is "A product that provides functional benefits plus added values that some consumers value enough to buy." I think this is true because every brand is trying to sell us something, sell us a lifestyle and depending on which brand we buy is how we want people to see us. Believe it or not we are always being judged by what brand we use or wear. Brands affect our everyday lives and it can show our unique personalities making us different from everyone else. The reason we choose some brands over others is because we want people to know what kind of person we are. Today I feel like consumers buy certain brands just to feel relevant and up to date because they want to feel cool and have the newest things. The thing about branding is that it is not slowing down because brands today already know what the next trend is going to be. They know what their consumers are already thinking of so they wait for the perfect time to advertise their products knowing that it will sell.

One good example of branding is Nike because it's attracting the active consumer who likes to live a healthier lifestyle and do lots of sports. It attracts many consumers who want to be active and they want to look cool while doing it. I believe this brand is the most popular out of every other active lifestyle brand in that they know what their consumer needs. It does a good job at always coming out with the newest and coolest things and that makes the consumer want to buy, buy, buy. The consumer today always want to be the first to get something new because it makes them feel relevant and cool. It is all a big competition today and brands are making so much money by just selling the consumers a lifestyle.

With advertising and brands moving so fast, I wonder how it will be in the future. Who knows what brands will still be popular and what brands will still be relevant. The only thing that is relevant to the consumer is what is happening now and which brands fit their personality and lifestyle.
