Racism in Shows
"The Chapelle Show" is the first show that came to my mind when I thought about Racial sterotyping. I always thought that Chapelle was a genius when it came to how he approached racism in his sketches. The thing that made his show very popular is that he takes a lot risks and makes a lot of racist jokes. Chapelle is a powerful comedian due to the fact that he addresses the problems that people are scared to talk about, especially racism. The Chapelle Show mainly focuses on the black and white race but sometimes make jokes about other races as well.
For example, this is a sketch where racial diversity is obvious.

The sketch is called "The Racial Draft" and I believe this sketch is one of his best sketches. The Racial Draft is about how each race gets to pick who they want out of the celebrities. The celebrities that were picked by each race was funny because it was stereotypical. Chapelle is very blunt in his sketches and he is not afraid to say what others are scared to say. His show may make us feel uncomfortable, angry or offended but at the end of the day we all know it is comedy and no matter what race you are, you are going to laugh when watching his show.
